need some help/advice re: rescuing a stray

grandma found a lil doggie running in the middle of a major road yesterday and brought him home...

he is absolutely adorable...they are at the vet now...apparently he's a sheltie mix.

anyone have advice on introducing him to our dogs and how long it may take for him to adjust?

You should contact shelters in your area and also place an ad on Petfinder.com. Someone may be looking for the dog.

Re: need some help/advice re: rescuing a stray

Please notify your local shelter and put an ad out that you found him.
His people may have lost him and are looking for him.
I know someone who found a dog a few months ago and it took the owners almost a month to find him, but she had notified the shelter so when the owners called the shelter, the shelter was able to tell them where their dog was.
BTW, it took them so long cuz they lived in Flushing, NY and the dog was found in Port Washington....they can travel really far so it wouldn't even be a bad idea to let surrounding area shelters know you have the dog also.

If he was well taken care of, someone is upset at the loss of their dog. Imagine how you would feel....Chat Icon

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to your local vet or shelter and let them know you found this dog!!!

From personal experience this past week I know how heartbreaking it is to lose your beloved pet. You can offer to keep her while the owners are located and if no one claims her/him then you can adopt them also check

totally agree with the above posters, you need to let local shelters know that you found the dog. also, have the vet check for a microchip.
