Re: Will my wine be ok?

it's boarderline.... there isn't a lot of acohol in there.... It likely is enough to avoid freezing, but personally I wouldn't risk the mess......

sorry......

Seriously though it might be okay but I wouldnt risk it! My friend once had an "incident" in her trunk with a few cases of Diet Pepsi. It was not a pretty sight!

Eh, not really. The wine won't freeze and will probably be okay. While wine DOES do best at steady temps and constant humidity, I'm guessing this isn't $300 a bottle wine and I'm guessing most people (myself included) wouldn't be able to tell much difference at all between a regularly to moderately priced wine that was subject to some big changes in temperature over the course of one night. Wine is not like beer that gets skunked when it goes from cold to room temp and back to cold. Most wine would survive a night in the car at temps in the 30s just fine. A week or several days, probably not. I WOULD bring it in just to be safe, but if you didn't, I'd venture to say it's probably just fine.

Keeping wine refrigerated for more than a few days, however (and I mean your regular fridge, not a wine cellar fridge) is worse for it. Every wine expert I've talked to said, in the absence of having a wine cellar or wine fridge, store white wine at room temperature, NOT in the fridge. Something about being in the fridge for more than a few days breaking down the wine and other very specific scientific details I don't remember word-for-word. Chat Icon

ETF typo and to add -- I'd still have brought it in to be safe. Wine is sacred! Chat Icon

Re: Will my wine be ok?

Thanks, for the info. I feel better knowing it's in the house with no chance of freezing/breaking/going bad. But for future knowledge thats good info... no going to the car at midnight, it's spooky outside.
