Aggressive play
Ok so Riley and Morgan love to play together and up till tonight its NEVER been an issue.
Since Riley now towers over Morgan, I'm sometimes worried that she could hurt her. (Morgan is only 35lbs and Riley is over 50 now and still growing)
Well tonight they were playing and all of a sudden Morgan started crying so loud...my heart dropped and I ran over and saw Riley had Morgan's collar in her mouth. (I've noticed that she will grab her collar sometimes when they play)
When I ran over Riley let go...and Morgan ran upstairs and hid under the bed...she was so scared..and I was crying I was so upset.
I don't think Riley is trying to hurt Morgan...but just the action was scary
This seriously worries me and I want to nip this in the butt ASAP...any tips on how to keep Riley from being so aggressive during "play"

The problem might be the collar - dogs don't understand collars and might grab onto like a toy. If there were no collar, then Riley would have nothing to grab and odds are he wouldn't bite Morgan, he was just playing with the collar.
If you don't think that's it - I don't know what else to say...it's almost impossible to supervise them 24/7....
Has Morgan come out yet?

aww poor thing. Julie's dogs sometimes play like that - but they are roughly the same size so i dont think one of them getting hurt is an issue. and when they play with Bailey they arent really rough, plus bailey is little enough to run and hide.
maybe put the training collar on Riley when she is playing?

We never leave Bama's collar on him in the house. Dogs can easily get tangled in each other's collar and one dog could strangle the other, or they could both be strangled. Our breeder told us this; she'd heard too many stories of dogs being strangled by their collars.
As for aggressive play, I don't think it's bad as long as it doesn't turn mean. Poor pup though - it could've just been the collar thing scared her.

I have a 30lb puggle and a 70 rottie-mix who fight/play a lot. Sometimes I have to actually break them up. Henry (the puggle) wears a harness not a collar and Jake (the rottie) will sometimes grab Henry by the scruff of the neck. They have never hurt eachother but I can understand how upset you must have been. It can be very scary even if they are playing! In our case usually it is Henry that wont back down. I'm sure your dogs will be fine!

I was thinking about keeping her training collar on her during play as well...I mentioned it to DH last night.
After a few minutes Morgan came our from under the bed, I def think she was just freaked out by Riley getting a hold of her collar. and the rest of the night they were fine...buddies like usual.
The whole thing was just scary...I never want to hear any of my dogs cry like that again

Misty doesn't wear a collar in the house either, for the same reasons.

Dogs will do that. My dogs do it. Our vet said to let them do what they do.
But word of advise, DO NOT leave them unattended, or home alone, with collars on. They can choke each other. It has happened so be very careful.
Our dogs play VERY rough. They sound like they are killing each other but they love it. We used to worry but not anymore. They know what each other can handle.

When they are home alone..Riley is in her crate and Jessi and Morgan just hang out and sleep the whole day...and play with their toys. Jessi is very laid back and does not rough house like Riley does.
I always leave their collars on, b/c in the past it was never an issue and when i do take them off...they look for them like "hey I'm naked"
If this is something that continues I will def take their collars off while they play in the house.
But I'm just weary of letting Riley get "too wild" with Morgan, b/c Riley is going to be a big dog and Morgan is small....Eventually we will have kids and I don't want Riley to learn to be rough with small things
