Re: Kitchen Aid Mixer - finally out of the box!
we have 6 appliances on the counters in our tiny kitchen
microwave, waring blender, kitchen aid food processor, a 'real' (for espresso) coffee grinders, coffee maker, and the kitchen aid mixer
all of these would be way too much of a pain in the @ss to put away and take out.
My advice on the mixer is to see if DH will compromise if you put the mixer in a counter top corner (too deep for real active prep space). this is where we have it, and I'm still able to chop stuff in front of it

In all honesty, on the floor in my pantry where it hardly ever comes out from.
Who has time to bake? And what would I do with those baked goods besides eat them myself?
Not that I would admit any of this to DH who thought it was crazy to spend so much money on a mixer.
