don't get me wrong i understand the point being made
but in this instance i just cannot compare what we do with human to animals
should all the kids in orphanages be killed as well?
It's not comparing...it's asking why I don't have the right to do (and I am talking about MYSELF, not making hte decision to pull the plug on someone else....flat out Kavorkeian style) this to myself when as a society we are so flippiant about doing it to animals.
well to certain degrees you do have that choice...aka DNR

People view putting an animal to sleep as an act of kindness and a way to relieve the pain and suffering.
That is in some instances the case, but it doesn't explain the millions of well, young animals put to sleep each year because there is no room in shelters.
I wasnt talking about that though - I was only talking about sick animals compared to sick people.
I saved my cat and his 2 siblings from being killed at the shelter. Its a horrible thing that is done. But I was only talking about sick animals.
You are right.....animlas can not talk nor can the truly communicate there pain ... as far as pulling the plug it is considered murder

Ia m not talk ing about DNR, I am talking about being sick (cancer or any other disease) and you wanting to kill your self before your life deteriorates

Re: Euthanized Question
I think people are missing hte point, this is not about makint the decision to pull the plug on others. I am talking about making the decision to kill youself with Gas (or by any other means) because your health is failing. This is one person making a decision when they are of sound mind and body.

ok point seen now. BUT i have serious issues with that. Exactly when should someone be able to make that decision? Do you have to be terminal? Do you have to be suffering Can you make this decision the minute you find out you have cancer?
There are tooooo many decisions involved with this and to be honest who should be the one giving answers? Once you start moving the line into the grey area, things get tooo complicated for me

Re: Euthanized Question
I abstained from commenting on this for a while, but now I want to say this.... after losing family members after battles with cancer, I think there is a lot of grey area here. While I can understand that the sick person would want to end their suffering, I think it can beneficial in some ways for the survivors for them to hold on, at least for a while. My father found out fairly quickly after he was diagnosed that his case was terminal. If he had the choice to end his life sooner, I think the grief in our family would have been far more profound, which is definitely something he would not have wanted, but may not have forseen.
I just think it is a very complex issue with no one clear answer for everyone.

Ok but are you kiiling yourself or is someone pulling the plug because your original post did not say that you said why can we put animals down and not humans ... basically in my opinion if I am want to kill myself because i am suffering no one will tell me different... see you can decide that an animal cant kill themselves
