No.. I dont want your credit card....
Without mentioning the name of the department store... when making a purchase today at lunch, the cashier interregated me with why I dont want to save the extra 10% if I open up a charge card with them?
I told her- "No thank you... I have more than enough credit cards.. I dont want any more"
Cashier: " So your telling me that you rather give the store an extra 10% of your money for no reason"
Me: "No, maam. I have enough debt, thank you. I'm paying by debit card"
Cashier: "Well, I think your being totally unreasonable. You can save yourself money. You would be foolish not to. I'm sure you will be shopping in this store again. They send you coupons galore in the mail"
Me: "I'd be foolish giving this place finance charges"
Cashier "Are you SURE you dont want to save yourself 10%??'
She kept going & going......

I tried that in another store... I lied & told her that I didn't have it on me. She asked for my phone # because she is able to pull it up in the system!

So I can use the card to make the purchase.

I always tell them I already have it.
If they ask you for your phone # tell them you don't want to use the card and you do not give out your number.

By that point, I'd have asked to speak to the manager. That's way overboard trying to sell you the CC.
Yes, they make money off of it, but that doesn't mean that they have to harass you when you say no!

When they ask me do I have blablabla Card I say "No thank you" instead of no. So they won't continue the whole song and dance.

Same here.
I also usually respond by saying "no, and I am not interested in getting one either."

Re: No.. I dont want your credit card....
This time of the year (especially) retailers really push the credit cards and even give more incentive to their employees to sign people up.
You were really nice not to go to her manager about it. I don't know if I would have been as patient with her. She was wrong on so many levels and I am sure that the store would not be happy to hear that this was her tactic.

I always just say No Thank You. This cashier went overboard. I probably would have just asked her to please just ring the order, Im in a hurry.

Re: No.. I dont want your credit card....
I'm going to put it out there and say it must be Kohl's!!
I was harassed the same way the other day. The management must have some type of contest going that whatever cashier has their custmers open the most cc they get a prize!

Re: No.. I dont want your credit card....
It's great that you brought this up on the same day as another poster asked for advice on how to improve her credit rating.
everytime they are persistent in pushing for me to accept that 10% off offer, I bluntly tell them '10% off of this purchase is not nearly worth the negative impact of a store credit card on my credit rating'
In my experience, that shuts them up rather quickly

Re: No.. I dont want your credit card....
I always tell them, "No, thanks." and if it doesn't stop there, I ask them, "Do you know what 10% off of this purchase is? It's like 5 dollars, not really worth it. Thanks."
