Going off the BCP...what should I expect??

Hey ladies!

So I'm finishing the pack I'm on now and that will be it for the pill. Now, I've been on the pill for about 10 years, so Im scared of how my body is going to react when I stop the pill. What should I expect? What are some symptoms you had when you stopped the pill? TIA!

When I went off the pill I felt better. My sex drive went way up. The only other symptoms I had were that my cramps were worse than on BCP and I had spotting a few days before AF came. Other than that my adjustment to being off BCP was good.

i have to be honest i was on the pill for 7yrs and i stopped in april and there are more positives then negatives now that they are gone....i used to get chronic yeast infections around my period while on the pill and that stopped, lower libido on the pill and HELLLLO thats back i would get bad headaches and i only get a headache right before i get my period now and i have to say the worst symptom that came back is CRAMPS but thats my only negative im happier knowing they are out of my body now

Well, I am one of the few that did not have a good experience. My cycles were very irregular (ranging from 2 weeks to 3 months). My hormone levels were not where they should have been. People say the pill only masks issues you already have, but I was very regular before taking the pill, so who knows. Most people go back to normal right away though so I don't want to worry you!

the cramps are why i first went on the pill and the fact that i was young and had a pregnancy scare (with my dh of now funny how life works as im righting u on the ttc board )

ive been off for 3 months
only got my period once so far
very irregular, broke out (apparently the pill kept my face clear) but definitel libodo increaser!!!

I was on the pill for 10 years and didn't feel any different, in any way, when I stopped taking it. I went back on it a year later and came back off of it 2 years later...still no difference. The only change was that my periods were irregular not being on it.

I have been off BCP for about a month now. I decided to do charting (temps, cervical fluids, along with an Ovulation Kit) to really see what is happening with my system. We aren't trying to TTC. I'm 44. I have been on the pill for about 4 years, was also on it for several years in the past.

So far, I know that my cycle seems a little longer this month than when I was off. Looks like it will be about 38 days this cycle. In the past, it was about 31-35 days. I know that I ovulated, confirmed by the kit and my temps.

My sex drive is waaaaayy up. My breasts are tender toward the end of my cycle now, just like old times (I forgot about that!). My v-j-jay isn't dry during sex now (I was even talking to my gyn about this symptom for a few visits recently!) I am very excited. I highly recommend charting and cervical fluid check to see what is happening. I've been using fertilityfriend.com to help.

i've been off BCP since June. i decided to go off b/c of the negative side effects (headaches and low libido). the changes i've noticed are increased sex drive, no more headaches, my face broke out the first few months but is getting better now, irregular periods that are slowly becoming more regular, a little more cramping and heavier flows. nothing too bad at all. good luck!
