Re: Do you know someone who smokes and...
While growing up both my parents smoked in the house and still do. When I come over with the kdis they go outside and nobody is aloud to smoke in my home.

Re: Do you know someone who smokes and...
My father smoked in our house all the time until he was diagnosed with the beginning stages of emphysema, and had a kidney removed due to cancer. My brother and I ended up smoking my sister never did. Like a PP said my first cigarettes were stolen out of his pack, hell I even walked up to the local deli to buy them for my Dad when I was a kid and I am talking like 10 years old (no one ID'd back then ) I quit the moment I found out I was pregnant and haven't had one since then (almost 5 years ) My DH still smokes but only does it outside and in his car (the kids ride in my car) My aunt still smokes in her house so our Christmas plans had to change. I told my parents I was never going to bring my children into her home with all the second hand smoke and my family completely understood (Damien was on a nebulizer quite a bit when he was an infant, I wasn't taking any chances) I really don't get my someome would smoke with their children nearby.

My fathers' GF smokes in the house, drives me nuts!! She tries to smoke outside but then stands right in front of the screen door, so all the smoke blows in the house anyway! I smell it right now! I cannot wait to move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Do you know someone who smokes and...
Both of my parents smoked when my brothers and I were growing up in the house (still do to this day). Both my older brother and I have terrible asthma, obviously made worse by the smoking. It is a very frustrating thing, as a child/teen/young adult. My brothers and I tried to talk to my parents soooo many times. They never quit. Now that we are all married and my older brother and his wife are pregnant, we were hoping to pull the "we want you around to see your grandchildren grow up. What if you get cancer" line, but it didn't work. They are still puffing away.

Re: Do you know someone who smokes and...
That is exactly how I grew up and I resent it to this day.
Both of my parents smoked (dad still does, mom quit) and there was not a day that went by that I did not smell like smoke. I hated it and never felt clean. I would go to friends houses and their parents would always smell it on me and then when we were teenagers we would get accuses of sneaking smokes.
My parents would smoke in the car with the window cracked, in the living room while we watched TV, after dinner at the table and anywhere else you can think of.
So, it's a very sore subject for me. My DH smokes and he only does it outside or in the bathroom with the door closed and window open. Which will change once we have kids. Outside only and NOT in the car at all.
