Where do you keep all your bills & related papers?

My mom was notorious for being a pack rat and having mail/bills/papers all over the kitchen in piles when we were growing up. It's even worse now that she lives alone.

I so do not want to be like her in that sense but always have a pile of mail on my table.

I file stuff away when it's been paid, but where do you keep your stuff in the mean time.

I know my sister has a junk drawer. We have very little cabinet space in our apartment for that...

I pay the bills immediately and then file them, so I don't need an interim space for them.

I have a slot in the computer armoire for upcoming bills. Once they are paid they are filed in the file cabinet. After a yr they are all put into a plastic see through box and stored away.

As soon as I get a bill, I basically either pay it or bring it into work with me and pay on-line when the time comes.

I have a filing draw at home for receipts and important papers.

I can not stand papers all over the place, it drives me nuts!

I have a purple folder that I keep all my bills that need to be paid in there . I usually keep that folder at work because I pay all my bills on line. Then afater its paid I file it away in the file cabinet, after a year I toss em

Once they are paid i rip them up or shred them and throw them in the garbage. I hate clutter.

I pay bills weekly and anything that comes in during the week gets put in a letter file I have on our desk. If it's not there, then I will forget to pay it.

Junk mail gets immediately filed (garbage).

I also keep a basket in our kitchen to put papers, magazines, non-bill mail that came in that I want to keep. I go through the basket once a week.

I loathe papers on the table or countertop.

We keep them in our mail slot on our desk by the computer. Once they are paid we label them w/ date paid & then they get filed (or put in the file folder which is now about 5 inches thick)

We pay our bills immediately and then we have a filing cabinet with a folder for each credit card, utility, bank, etc.

Imprt documents are filed away in a fireproof safe as well.

When bills come in we have a hanging organizer by the computer that they go in awaiting payment. Once they are paid, the stubs are marked with payment date & check # & filed in the appropriate file in our file cabinet.

Anything VERY important is in a fireproof safe...

I have a wall mounted key/mail organizer just inside our entry to try to get DH to put the mail in there instead of on the table. He rarely does. Sometimes I'll grab the mail & put it there till I can go through it the next day or whatever.
Then I open everything, ditch/shred all garbage & filler & return envelopes(I pay just about everything online), I pay most stuff right away & file it in our filing cabinet in the office.
Things that aren't due or need review or whatever go in a small desktop organizer on my desk or in my purse because I make alot of customer service type calls & even pay a few bills by phone on my way to work-hands free of course
I used to be terrible about letting the actual mail pile up even though I paid the bills, I had this terrible aversion to filing. Now I just do it & its SO much better!

I have a binder that I keep in a magazine holder. I have my bill paying log (for confirmation codes and stuff like that) in it and two folders. One folder to for things that I need to act on and the other is for things that need to be filed. Once every 3 months, I file into the file cab.

I do paperless billing - so we don't get any bills. No clutter and saving trees.
