How do you get rid of Gnats?

Any home remedies for getting rid of those flying gnats.

A co-worker or mine was JUST talking about this. Apparently, Bounce dryer sheets repel them!

I spray them with Fantastic. But I like that Bounce idea - sounds a lot simpler.

I am going to try the dryer sheets because these freakin gnats are driving me insane!!!!!

I thought someone once told me that they don't live more than 24 hours??

Gnats or fruit flies?
If it's fruit flies this worked wonders for my brother--- he and his family only live in their house on the weekend b/c they own a co-op in queens and work in manhattan. They came out one weekend and had thousands (and I'm not exaggerating) of fruit flies all over their house- it was SO GROSS!!!
They were told to COVER all of the drains in the house at all times (when they weren't being used) b/c that's where they nest.
Take a shallow bowl and pour red wine and cider vinegar into it (a mixture). They flock to it and get caught and drown. HTH!

the odds are this time of year that they're fruit flies. When I see them in my home I immediately empty every garbage pail in the house and take the garbage outside of my house and I close the toliet lids and cover all of the drains w/ facecloths. Also, put any food, fruit or otherwise away. They'll flock to anything w/ moisture. This usually is enough to get rid of them. I know out here (I'm on the north fork) every restaurant has them and as soon as someone orders a glass of wine they flock around the table.

This is so weird b/c I've been fighting them for about a week now!!! And I'm like I thought they were coming from the sink but couldnt be sure....thanks!

Make sure there is no food anywhere. Pour bleach down all your drains and then stop them up for the night.

I had them about 2 weeks ago. I was calling them gnats but I don't know what they are. I looked to see if they were near by bananas or apples or potatoes but they weren't. They were really pesky. I read that you can put a bowl of vinegar down where you see them and add a few drops of dishwashing soap and it kills them. They are attracted to the vinegar. I tried and it didn't work but I only left it out overnight. They didnt seem to be in just one place, I would see them in the bathroom, kitchen living room, even the basement. Not thousands but enough to be really unusual. I see one or two now but for the most part they are gone.
