Spinoff, Trick or Treaters

Ok, so its our first Halloween in our new home. I don't get home until 6:45-7PM. Do you think there will still be trick or treaters out? I know I'll miss the cute kids (my DH will see them, he gets home at 5-6PM).

You'll get the middle and high school kids, Kerry! I have the same dilemma. DH will see the cuties, but not me.

I was thinking this as well. There are TONS of kids in our complex, and a lot of teens. I'm just sad I'll miss the cuties. I love seeing the little kids all dressed up. The teens with shaving cream in their hair don't do it for me (not to say I didn't do the same when I was their age)

Halloween down here is completely different from where I grew up.

I'm originally from upstate and the kiddies and the teenagers would go out at the same time.

No one started going around until after 6pm to allow families to have dinner with one another. Then, we'd all get our costumes on and go around the neighborhood - it was always dark out and one of our parents would go with us. The little kids would be in the wagon and the parents would wheel them up to the front porch, where they would climb out to ring the doorbell to get candy.

It would go on from 6 to 9pm and we'd get to see all the little babies and the rest of the kids as they all came around.

On the really cold halloween's, one of my neighbors would make coffee for the father's walking around and hot chocolate for the kids to drink, so we didn't get cold.

I miss that type of Halloween now that I live on LI and see everyone walking around during the day.

Re: Spinoff, Trick or Treaters

I leave a bucket with bags of candy in it for the little kids. Then we have some leftover for the bigger kids.

Re: Spinoff, Trick or Treaters

I was thinking about doing this, but I'm in a condo complex so I don't know how that would work.

Re: Spinoff, Trick or Treaters

By me, they come until 830 pm. So I would think plenty should still come if it is a child friendly area to trick or treat.

They'll definitely be trick or treaters out. I know most parents try to hold them off until after dinner around here.
