Decorating Help

We are trying to decide on which kind of chandelier we want in our DR & Foyer. We are trying to pick something before we move in if at all possible. Here are as many details as I can think of and some pics.

Our Kitchen, LR, DR & Foyer are all open to each other with no walls separating them.

The Kitchen is Cherry Wood Cabinets with red oak hardwoods, with Stainless Steel appliances and Blue Pearl granite (gray/blue tone).

The DR has the same hardwoods. The table is a Cherry Wood finish. Sorry no picture yet. This is what the kitchen & DR looked like before we remodeled. The DR is on the left. The same light fixtures are still there right now.

The LR has the same hardwoods. Right now we have black leather couches and a Cherry Wood finish entertainment center.

This pic is before hardwoods were finished in LR. You can also see the Foyer. We want to replace that fixture.

The question is, do you go with brushed stainless for your light fixtures or can you do black or Iron? Like something like these.

Re: Decorating Help

I'm a fan of the bronze myself. My favorite chandelier is the 3rd bronze one.

Re: Decorating Help

I think you could go either way. Since your appliances are stainless, brushed nickel would coordinate really well. You also have a lot of black/black-ish accents - the granite, the couches. The iron chandeliers would look just as nice - and they're kind of a neutral finish too.

I personally like the bronze chandeliers over the silver.

But I have a similar kitchen in our apartment with the same granite and stainless steel appliances. Our dining room has a brushed nickel chandelier in it. It is also an open. It wouldn't look as right with the bronze chandelier. So I voted for the brushed nickel. It will definitely bring out the specks of pearl/silver in the granite.

Re: Decorating Help

What about the Foyer fixture. Would you go for something similar there? If we went with the bronze finish chandelier for the DR what kind of fixture would you put in the Foyer? Chat Icon

the only thing we are worried about with the bronze is that the stainless appliances and granite (silver/gray) wouldn't match with it. Chat Icon

I like the bronze finish better, but worried about the stainless. Chat Icon

Jen, I can see where you are thinking the Bronze can clash with the stainless, but with the color of your granite and cabinets, I think either would work out fine.

I think the Bronze is softer looking and would go great IMO.

I am not sure if you are buying it online. But if not, and are buying from Lowes/HD/Expo ... can you buy both colors bring it home and assess which looks better?

I was thinking the same thing. softer looking with the Bronze. I think I might be ordering the 3rd Bronze one for the DR, but don't know which one for the Foyer yet. Must keep looking. Chat Icon
