It's funny how the guys vs. girls think on this.
I agree with taking her somewhere nice - it's let's her know he really wants her to enjoy herself and that he is interested enough to spend $$$.
It doesn't mean that's where they are going to go all the time. Plus, it's a perfect setup for somewhere to go to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, etc.
As in - We are going to have dinner where we had our first date

Actually he got all the women. He was a short guy who was rich. His only downfall was when he opened his mouth and spoke.

depends on the guy....and how he feels about the girl. Kinda hard to say when it's a first date.
I had one first date where he took me to Mama Lombardi's on a Fri night....we didn't even have to wait
and then he surprised me with Bon Jovi concert tix during dinner!
