I am HORRIBLE with names. I just blank out. I think it's because I get nervous meeting new people, so I am so worried about introducing myself and making a decent first impression, that I just space out when they say their name. So when they walk away, I have no idea what their name is.
I am the same way, I am so worried about meeting someone new that half the time I don't even catch the name, and I could walk away a few minutes later and have no idea what their name is!

I'm the worst when I see my students out in the "real world". They could have been in my class for three years straight but if I see them at a restaurant, store, etc., I completely draw a blank
I ran into one of my h.s. teachers last week (He was awesome) at a store. I called his name and immediately said mine and the year I graduated. I mean he taught for 40 years and I graduated 19 years ago, I'd be shocked if he remembered.
I know...it's out of the element, too!
