Have you ever eaten at a restaurant that was SO good

that it just ruins it for the rest of them?

I'm referring to a particular kind of cuisine, like Chinese, Italian, etc.

DH and I cannot eat Chinese anywhere else since trying Hoi Ming in W. Sayville. nothing else compares or measures up, so why go anywhere else.

we recently gave a new place a shot and decided that it's either Hoi Ming or no Chinese, ever!

We feel the same way about a chinese place by us too. It costs more, but it's so much better than other chinese places by us.

We'll try other sushi restaurants for variation, but we keep going back to our favorite. It's the standard by which we measure all others.

When we take out Chinese I go to my old neighborhood. I've asked around where my local friends go. And we just never like it as much as our old place.

I know it isn't fine cuisine, but I am in love with Chili's fajitas, I can't find anywhere else that compares....

My 2 favorite places for Thai are Jaiya in Hicksville and Pad Thai in Oakdale - I cannot eat Thai anywhere else!

I do love Pad Thai in Oakdale... No other restaurants have been as good.

But then again, it could have just been the company.

Yes. There is an Italian restaurant in London that I love that puts all others to shame.

YES- there's an asian fusion restaurant in Manhattan called Ginger's...it just blows any other chinese place right outta the water!! Also, Patsy's Italian Restaurant, also in Manhattan, is OUT OF THIS WORLD (and every single time I've been there, there's someone famous dining there; last time, it was Jackie Mason!).

Makes me miss NY a little bit But gives me something good to look forward to when I come back

yup! mexican.. theres the most amazing mexican place near us in NJ... its a really small place, with a husband and wife "team". he cooks, she serves and i guess helps cook sometimes... they give you a TON of food for super cheap, and really we haven't found any other mexican place that compares

Now I'm on a mission to try Hoi Ming. One of my friends loves that place as well.

I can't eat thai food anywhere else but Lemon Leaf Grill in Hicksville. It's ruined it for me everywhere.

I have never had better Mexican then Don Ricardo's in Babylon Village.

Totally........ we have different places for different foods

Chinese= Orchird.....Garden City
Sushi= Sushiya.......RVC
Steak=Hudson Mill.......Massapequa
Italian= Pizziola......Oceanside

these places are awesome incase anyone wants to try them.....

Yes. Phayathai in Ronkonkoma our favorite thai place ever. I don't like the food from any other thai restaurant.

Yes, The Orient in Bethpage has ruined all other chinese food for me.
Next time I'm in NY that is one of my "good eats" stops

I've never had better indian food than at the Jackson Diner in Jackson Heights (not a real diner - just an indian restaurant in what used to be an old diner). I love indian food and have tried a lot of restaurants - but nothing in NYC compares to it.
