Re: OMG - we just saw Death ProoF!!!!

we bought it and finally watched it last night.

Honestly, i loved the ending, but found the rest of it to be pretty pointless.

I love some of his films, but, imho, i think quentin tarantino is pretty overrated. DH loved the movie- i told him if i brought that movie home, and he didnt know it was a tarantino movie, he would thought it was a piece of crap.

maybe it'll grow on me... i'm sure i'll see it again, but seriously, i can watch 2 hours of pointless conversation at any given moment- i dont need to see a movie to accomplish that Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well, heres the thing...

A long time ago, I had this friend who was obsessed with movies. He took me to a movie in a small cinema to see some unknown flick... called Resoirvoir something... Chat Icon

It was about a year before it came out in the mainstream. And I loved it... gore and all!!!

I had a group of cinema crazy friends who knew where the Tarantino movies were playing before they were out for public consumption, so I discovered I liked him before it was "cool" to like him, as I agree - he can get sucked up by genre-whores, and leave an overrated after taste...

that being said, I am all about campy, trashy 70's movies... the more scratchy and grainy, the better... show me some 70's chick with winged hair and a bad pair of shorts with tube socks, and I'm in heaven!!! So, if I had no clue this was Tarantino, I'd be all about the kitch and camp of the whole thing.... Chat Icon

And I love pointless conversation too. As if that were a surprise to anyone around thes here parts! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i loved that aspect of it also, and definitely loved the music (he always has great music!!), and to take it for what it was- a B level movie- it was cool.... but i felt like i was waiting forever for something to happen... and while the ending was awesome, and certain aspects were cool, i guess i just think that many people will say it was Amazing purely based on the fact that it was a Tarantino movie.

I like him- and he does have some amazing movies (Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction are 2 of my favorites, and possibly 2 of the best movies ever), but i was getting frustrated watching it last night and lashed out at DH for his unconditional love of Tarantino movies- regardless of the quality Chat Icon

I hear ya - for Tarantino, he could have done better... my ex always said that it seemed like Tarantino has been sucking his own d**k lately, which always made me laugh....

Loved Dusk Til Dawn also.... Chat Icon
