how do you get the smell out?!?!?!

i love my couch. its my prized possession. i had it custome made only last year.

well, as i posted awhile back a friend peed on it while she was sleeping. Chat Icon

we cleaned it as good as possible and the smell was pretty much gone.

after that my puppy peed on itChat Icon
again, cleaned it with Natures Miracle.

while we were away our CAT peed on it. Chat Icon

and the puppy continues to go on it.

ok, the smell. its bad. its like we are white trash.

dh says we need to get rid of it. but i LOVE it sooooooooooooooooo much.

what in the world can i do to get teh smell out???????
ANY ideas?

i want to try to salvage it. instead of having it in the living room i want to at least keep it in the bedroom and not let the animals in.

i didnt post on Pets cuz its more of a cleaning question i think.

I hate to tell you, but it's done. Can you get another cushion made for it since you had it custom made?

thats what my mom and dh said too. thats its done.

my mom said even if i get it professionally cleaned its just a waste of money because cat pee doesnt come out.

saffy has never been spiteful, i guess he was really mad at us!

grrr i love it so much, unfortunatly there is no cushions, its all one big thing.

Re: how do you get the smell out?!?!?!

maybe you could get it reupolstered?

Sorry...take it from a cat owner..I've replaced carpets over and over...nothing gets out cat pee. Also, even if you can't smell it, the cat can and he/she will pee there again.

Re: how do you get the smell out?!?!?!

I agree with everyone else... couch is done. Nature's Miracle is good for one accident or so... but when a cat has gone in the same spot several times (heck, even sometimes just once), it's nearly impossible to get the odor out. The odor can also cause your pets to keep peeing on the same piece of furniture.

Good luck finding a new one! Sorry you have to toss your fave piece of furniture. That's no fun... but it will smell a lot better!

Yes unfortunately cat pee is the worst...I know I have thrown out many a comforter because of my cat...now I just lock him out of bedroom...cruel but I can't keep spending $$ on comforters. Sorry I think the sofa is done.

get rid of the cat

ironically enough we got him when i was 16 and my sisters were young. got him and his brother. he lived at 'home' until about 3 years ago.

his brother died horrifically about a year ago and my little sister was a mess. totally depressed.

both sisters beg me for Saffy back everytime they see me.

we were going to surprise them and let him go back with them until i told my mom he peed and she said NO WAY

our cat peed on our brand new- I mean we had the couch for like 3 days, I called a pro cleaning service and poof they got out the smell- smelled brand new again. they had all these chemicals- it cost me 300 but it worked, much cheaper than buying a new couch. good luck

Re: how do you get the smell out?!?!?!

we don't have pets, but we have had some pretty funky smells in some of the apts we've lived in and "Smells Be Gone" has worked every time. They sell it in Bed and Bath I think and we've found it in random stores. Go for the original formula. It's worth a try!

Good luck!

ps. If it helps at all - a couple of days after I had bought my last new couch, my girlfriend was pumping with a blanket thrown over herself. Well it was one of her first tries and the milk leaked all over the couch Chat Icon Disaster!! The cushion covers came off, but they were dry clean only and the dry cleaning didn't get rid of the stain. As a last resort, I thew the covers in the wash and it came out looking like new!
