Re: Dec. Mommys

Arguing lots with DH, trying to convince him that yes, the baby's room does need to be painted very soon--I'm due Dec. 1st! He was planning to do it in November Chat Icon. I am seriously thinking of hiring a painter, since he's dragging his feet on this if he doesn't start this very soon.

I'm feeling lots of anxiety now in general about our lack of preparation. My shower isn't until Nov. 3rd, which is far later than I wanted, but my parents couldn't come up here earlier than that. We have not one piece of clothing, no gear, etc. We did buy our crib yesterday which should make me feel better, but somehow it does not.

I'm also getting very worried about giving birth.

Generally, I'm feeling not so terrible physically, though I'm getting more tired and just can't do some of the things I used to do like gardening, though there's really not much time for that now anyway.

I was up half the night thinking of all the stuff we have not done yet and how unready I feel to be a parent in general, so I'm probably sounding a little crazy now. Oh well, guess it will all get done one way or another.

I know, I have my shower the first weekend in November and a wedding the next weekend, and after that, my parents will be staying with us and I could really go any day. So I don't know what he was thinking by painting in NovemberChat Icon.

We don't have much of a theme really, though I'm using the Goodnight Star bedding, wall trim, and window valances. Not the decals though, I thought that was a bit much. This is what the set looks like:

I'm trying to decide between yellow or green paint--any thoughts?

Goodnight Star

Which bedding set/theme did you choose?

Re: Dec. Mommys

Ive been doing well. Its definately getting harder to move around though. We are planning on having the room done by the end of November because that is when the furniture is due to come in--Im due December 27th. We are doing a light green (at least we will be if we can ever get one of the samples to look like the color we are thinking about). For the bedding, I picked out two separate sets, one if its a boy and the other if iits a girl--Ill send someone out to get them after the baby is born. Since the baby will be sleeping in our room in a bassinet for awhile, I figure that is OK to do.
I have a growth sono and the gestational diabetes tests on Wednesday. Im so excited to have the growth sono and see how big the baby has gotten. Next week I plan on signing up for a babycare and breastfeeding class and putting a call in to a pediatrician. Baby has been moving around alot more this week.

Re: Dec. Mommys

I am doing pretty well overall. Feeling pretty big and not sleeping too well, but other than that okay.
As far as preparation, we finish lamaze tonight and I took a breast feeding class already.
We ordered the crib, hoping it will be in around Thanksgiving. We haven't even begun the room yet though. We are going to paint it green and yellow, we just haven't had the time yet. I am totally in a nesting phase, I have been reorganizing closets for the past few weeks.
My goal is to be all ready around Thanksgiving in terms of setting up the room and such. But we will see.
I still have to figure out the daycare situation and pediatrician as well.

Yes, I need to look for a pediatrician also. I haven't really done much with this yet other than print out a list of pediatricians in our area from our health plan. That's on my list this week, to start making appointments to meet some of them.

Is anyone else taking classes? What are you taking? We are taking a basic parenting class in a couple weeks, but that's it.

I now see what people mean by saying second trimester is best one!

As soon as I hit 29 weeks, I got intense pressure in pelvic bone, can't sleep at night (wake up due to bathroom as well as just because), and have huge siotical (sp?) pain! I learned what siotica pain is - which is just literally pain in the arse!

Other than that i am feeling great Baby doing well.

I also do get anxieties too! Anxiety over not being ready, babies room isn't ready, though we did decide on the nursery bedding/theme. Can't wait for it to come! I even have anxiety about packing the hospital bag! I know I don't have to do it yet, but worried that I do.Chat Icon

I remember you said the nursery was dark? If so, I think Yellow would be great and brighten up the room. On the other hand, the green would look nice with your light crib. But.. yellow would look nice too and brighten up the room. Don't know if I helped Chat Icon

The only thing I have accomplished is to order the baby furniture. Other than that, nothing is done. DH keeps asking if I'm ready for the baby to arrive and I keep telling him no, and then he wants to know why???????? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I'm completely depressed, and my mother is worried sick as a result and keeps telling me if I don't think happy thoughts the baby will be colicky. Just what I need to make me feel better. Chat Icon

Re: Dec. Mommys

Well, I'm not much further along. DH pulled off the old border in the baby's room this weekend, but that was it. The molding still needs to be scraped, the new border applied, and the walls painted. We did buy the crib (though it's not assembled) and order the dresser. This was driving me nuts last week--this week less so, though it still makes me anxious. Giving birth is making me more anxious now though.

My spirits are better this week. Last week I was down most of the time. Maybe it helped that DH and I had a date this weekend--dinner and a movie, something we haven't done in ages.

We did our hospital tour last week and that seemed fine. We also met our first pediatrician on Saturday. She seemed okay, I didn't get a strong feeling for or against her, though I would like to meet other people. We will see two others before we choose though.

Physically, things are getting harder for me. I'm tired a lot, and my long commute is getting to me. I'm planning to ask my boss if I can work from home one day a week after this week, so hopefully that will go well. My lungs are also really getting squeezed, and I get winded ridiculously easily. Same goes for my bladder--I think I used the LIRR bathrooms a couple times before this. They're so disgusting I'd usually rather hold it, but lately, that's just not an option.
