Air Conditioners in apartments
do you leave them in all year or do you remove them during the winter? If you remove them, where do you store yours?

Re: Air Conditioners in apartments
We removed ours in the winter -- better for insulation / heating, too, and I felt it was also safer.

The complex left them in - they were built into the sides of the apt.

Re: Air Conditioners in apartments
we removed all but one and stored in bottom of closets. you can't control the heat in our co-op so it would get so cold if we left them in.

Same for us. Different complex, but they also left them in year round.

Re: Air Conditioners in apartments
We removed our's. IMO, I hate not having the option of opening the window for fresh air during the fall if we did leave them in. Also, in the winter you loose way to much heat with them left in the window.
Our apartment had a little back room for storage, so we put them in there.
Can your Landlord store them for you if he has a garage? or a family member?

Re: Air Conditioners in apartments
We leave them in, but bought cloth covers for them so that they would not blow in all winter--we live in a bedroom that is naturally COLD in winter, so we take all the help we can get. If you take them out, my friend puts them in a closet, but I know our closet space is precious..haha

Re: Air Conditioners in apartments
There were two in our apartment, the one that was installed permanently and the one we put in the window.
We took it out in the winter but, left the windows open because they kept the heat up so high!

Re: Air Conditioners in apartments
It's out for the winter, and the landlord stores it in his garage.
