Hi...I need some advice...very long
Hi everyone I am new here, I have been a member of liweddings for quite some time now, and I need some advice and insight on this board.
Here is a little background on me.
I am 31 yrs. old, I have been married for almost a year. Within the next year or so, I would like to start trying to conceive a baby. From reading and researching on this board and many websites, I feel that I may have difficulties possibly becoming pregnant (I have had irregular periods for all of my life).
I have spoken to my husband about this and he feels that financially we are not ready to have a child. He wants one also in the future, but he is very nervous about money issues. I don't want to wait too long to start a family. I know a lot of women who have had a hard time (in some cases years) to conceive their first child.
I hope this is not too personal but I wanted to post an anonymous poll about roughly how much income do you and your DH pull in a year, just so that I could get a range on how other couples are doing it (work, family, home, etc.).
Thank you for your input

just some advice...there will never be the 100% perfect time to try to have a baby...if you wait b/c of this reason and that...you never know... During our parents generation, they didn't think about all of the things like houses, cars and money that our generation does and we turned out fine. If you are emotionally ready and financially okay...I say go for it...the rest will fall into place.. and not really sure how polling what other's income can do for you other than perhaps make you feel bad about your situation.

I really think everyone is different in terms of expenses and bills. Realistically speaking a couple can make the same income as another couple but have different expenses.
For example: one couple may have student loans to repay, one couple may not. One couple may not pay for child care because family watches the children and another couple may pay $1000 per child per month for a nanny or babysitter. A lot of other factors need to be considered -- car payments, mortgage and lifestyle in general.
Just trying help!

i agree that you can't just look at what other people make and figure out "how they do it". if your DH feels that you are not financially ready but you are anxious to get started, i think you should sit down and talk about it. figure out what you need to do to get there. it will help you get to where you want to be sooner, and it will give you something to focus on besides the fact that you are not pregnant.
DH and i both agree that we are not quite ready yet (financially) but i know what we need to do and talking about it together is helping me "get through" the wait.
good luck to you.
