I'm a terrible eater!!

Ok so for the first time in a LOONNGG time I'm really trying to stick to all the healthy stuff. I really am going to make myself crazy though! I love fruits but I've never been HUGE into veggies which is now like, a pregnancy staple. I can handle raw carrots, and broccoli any shape or form. I LOVE salad but that's really the only green I get. In "The Book" it gives you this whole pregnancy diet that I KNOW I'm going to have trouble with. I just love red meat too much to replace it with turkey burgers. I am choosey in the grocery store about picking lean meats and stuff but still! How do you not go crazy with all the limitations on food intake?

I cannot give up coke. I have made the switch to Caffeine Free and that has been pretty painless so far..

ANyone else have a hard time with the newly overhealthy way of life??

Re: I'm a terrible eater!!

I'm actually eating worse than ever. But that's mainly because I feel nauseous most of the time and can't stand the thought of most foods. I let myself eat pretty much whatever sounds remotely good at the time whether it be a bacon, egg and cheese for breakfast, or a burger or pizza for lunch.

I wouldn't worry so much about maintaining the perfect diet. Just focus on feeling as good as you can and try not to stress out too much. I think there is enough to stress out about about what foods not to eat, that the stress of making sure to eat a perfect diet is just too much to handle.

Re: I'm a terrible eater!!

Me!!!!!!!!!!! I am addicted to coke also! I'm trying to cut down TREMENDOUSLY! I've been drinking more lemonade in place of the coke(I figured it's a step in the right direction) At least you switched to caffieine free...they say that's what gets to the baby(th caffeine)!

I'm driving myself crazy thinking...did I get enough calcium, protein, etc., etc. Then I think of all the pregnant people I know and they ate normal stuff! I just completly lost my love for food...because my indulgences make me feel guilty Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: I'm a terrible eater!!

Listen, Dont stress....

I was sooo sick I ate anything I could. At one point it was a bagel with american cheese. I ate that every day for almost two weeks and NOTHING else.....Except Ginger ale.

While healthy eating will serve you better, its OK to not be perfect.

There were times Id idnt even eat anything at all for almost 3 days straight.

My son is perfect.

Don't worry, your body will take what it needs for the baby. 15 year olds that live on McDonalds, beer, pot and a side order of Newports have a happy, healthy babies As you get farther along you'll crave different things & some of them might even be good for you!
Kelly I don't know if you've had MS yet, but you might find the lemonade you swapped for soda SOOO helpful if you do.

Re: I'm a terrible eater!!

I tried to give up my morning cup of coffee and was so miserable that I went back to drinking one cup a day. I did pretty much give up soda (not only for the caffeine but for the sugar). It was difficult but not impossible.

Re: I'm a terrible eater!!

The first three to four months I ate almost NO vegetables and had very little protein also. I really just couldn't stomach eating these foods at the time--they made me gag and feel nauseous. I was concerned because I thought this was the time I should be eating really healthy foods, but instead I was eating bagels, pizza, and ice cream.

Now I do eat better, but in the beginning you eat what you can. Don't pay too much attention to The Book on this topic--I think they're a bit too stringent in this area. Just do the best you can, take prenatals, and your baby should be healthy.

Re: I'm a terrible eater!!

I was a great eatter before getting pregnant and started off really good, but then strated to find nothing "green" appealing and I was at the point where I was barely cooking dinners (just not in the mood and so tired). Now finally at almost 15 weeks I am feeling much more like me and craving things that are better for me again. Hang in there!!!!!

I havent changed my eating habits. I have lessened my soda intake and only go with regular soda vs diet. But other than that, I am a believer in moderation.
Dont stress out!

I am impressed that some people even attempt that pregnancy diet stuff from the book!
