Re: How long did it take you to furnish
almost a year later, still working on it
I moved from my mom's house, so all I brought was my bedroom set for the guest room. DH lived at home, but he had a little aparment there, so he had a couch, big tv, etc. but otherthan that we had NADA. we saved enough so we bought a dining room set and a nice bedroom set. right now the living room is empty and will stay that way probably for another year.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
We moved into our home in Feb '07. It's been fully furnished since April '07. My parents gave us one of their bedroom sets for the guest room, we purchased a futon from Walmart for another guest room, and our DR furniture came from one of those stores that went out of business, so we got a great deal on the set.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
We moved in with our living room and master bedroom furniture from our apartment, as well as the kitchen table and chairs. Fortunately, the former home-owners left us a lot of furniture including the desk in the office and a couch and chair in our Florida room. So we're pretty much done, but once we finish our basement and make our Florida room into our dining room then we'll need more furniture!!!!

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
It's all furnished but we have a bunch of mismatched from combining my stuff and DH's from before we were married. We did not budget yet on refurnishing the house.
It's hard to part from your stuff and you keep adding to make it work.. but it does not.
Some day!!!!

A year later, we're still furnishing. As we re-do each room, we furnish...one project at a time.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
2 yrs later and some rooms are still unfurnished. mostly it is because i have a difficult time making decisions. i am going to focus on 100% completing the almost complete rooms first then moving to the unfurnished rooms. i think i often try to do too much at once and it leaves me w/ nothing 100% complete.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
A couple of years. We did one room at a time when we had the cash available. Right now we are working on our family room/playroom and then we will have to furnish that.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
We made the mistake of furnishing the whole thing in 6 months. We definetely should have taken our time especially b/c everything is just so $$$.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
we moved from my townhouse to our house & I had so much stuff including furniture that belonged to my grandparents that I had in storage. We bought new couches for the family room right away. We had everything else. I would not have had a problem dealing with an empty room for a while if we were saving for good furniture.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
We lived in an apartment for a year and then moved to our house in april '06. The night we closed we bought our bedroom set and the only thing we have bought since is our den furniture when we redid it in January. We used our living room furniture from our apartment in our livign room which needs to be replaced and we used our small kitchen table as our dining room table until we buy one. It is a process but it will come. I would rather buy furniture that I love and spend the money then buy things just to fill a room.
We have friends that have been in their house a little longer than us and still need a dining room set. it will come. GOOD LUCK.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
We're pretty much furnished but, it's with a lot of mismatched stuff and some things the previous owners left behind.
We really could use a new living room and bedroom set but, the one we have is good enough for now so we're waiting a bit.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
we'll be in our house for a year in december and it's getting there. But i will admit... i'm not one for buying something just to have it if i'm not crazy about it. So we went 8 months without a coffee table because i didn't find one i liked.
So almost a year later and we could still use a few things.

Re: How long did it take you to furnish
we are thinking it will take us at least one year because we don't use all the space in our house now, so why furnish it. Also, the formal living room set we want is so we are waiting and doing the kitchen first since we use that room more than the formal living room.

We have been here 4 years and are still furnishing. We have all the basics, but slowly we are replacing our cheaper apartment furniture with nicer furniture.
