Train drama!!
OMG! My best friend came up to Boston this weekend and on her way home she said that she got STUCK ON THE TRAIN inbetween Wantagh and Bellmore. She says they weren't saying much but there were whispers about them hitting someone... Anyone see this on the news??

It was true..
From Newsday this morning..
A woman was killed by an eastbound Long Island Rail Road train near the Bellmore station Sunday night in an apparent suicide, Nassau Police said.
The unidentified woman, described as in her 40s, was on the tracks just west of the station when she was struck around 8:40 p.m. by a train headed from Penn Station to Babylon, police and railroad officials said.
LIRR service was delayed on the Babylon branch for about an hour between Freeport and Babylon in both directions.

It was a suicide, my Mom's co-worker is/was a very close friend of the woman that killed herself, she had to leave work when she got the news this morning she was so distraught.
The woman had 2 teenage children & a husband.
So sad.

Awful; you might remember several months ago my DH saw a man at the Smithtown train throw himself in front of the train...he (DH) was completely traumatized. Sadly, this happens a few times a year.

Ugh - it happens more than a few times a year - and it's usually during rush hour ........ -
I know - totally insensitive - but I can't help being annoyed when it takes me 3+ hours to get home to my family -

See, when it's THIS, I don't mind at all...when the train "breaks down" and every conductor hides like a little b*tch to avoid telling the crowd what's going on, I flip.

The same thing happened once while I was on the train heading into the city in 97. I felt awful when I found out why we were just sitting there between stations. I was going to a concert with friends and there were lots of people near us all heading to the game at MSG, but no one complained about being late.

My FH works for the LIRR and this type of thing happens way more than I could have ever imagined! The worst is when he actually has to go to one to shut off the power....so sad!

I was on the train right before that as well. I got into Wantagh about 8:00pm.
