Who dyes their hair

Since getting preggo, when did you start dying again?

What do you use? Anything special or the same stuff your hair dresser always used?

Re: Who dyes their hair

I have gotten single processes and highlights. I waited until 18 weeks and I have had it done I think twice so far. \

ETA: same stuff my colorist always uses.

I've heard highlighting is pretty safe and if you want to be careful, wait until you are out of the first trimester.

I have read that most doctors seem to feel dying hair will not cause problems for the fetus, but I decided to skip doing this during my pregnancy. Highlights won't help me much--I dye to cover the gray!

So when baby is born, I'll look young and thin again!

I think you and I are living the same pregnancy Chat Icon I decided not to do it. I was due for highlights right after I realized I was pregnant. I asked the doctor's office and they said it wasn't a good idea at that time. I haven't asked again, because I decided I am not so vain that I couldn't wait to dye it after the baby is born.

I was coloring to cover gray too, and I am trying to figure out what I will do post baby.

Re: Who dyes their hair

I asked my Dr at 17 weeks if I could get it done and she said to wait two more months....needless to say my roots are terrible!

Re: Who dyes their hair

Luckily I had gotten my hair highlighted one day before I got the BFP--so I didnt realize I was pregnant....luckily the dr. said it was too early to cause any problems. Since then I got a vegetable dye once which brought my hair close to its natural color so I hope not to have to do it again. I usually highlight it every 6 weeks but didnt want to take the chance. When I had it done before the BFP it burned, so it just left me feeling like it could do something to the baby.

Re: Who dyes their hair

I've done it twice - once in my second trimester and then again last week. I didn't go to the salon to get it done like I usually do but only because I am on bed rest and can't go there. My doctor actually told me around 9 or 10 weeks that it is fine to color your hair (and I am high-risk).

Re: Who dyes their hair

At 12 weeks I had mine done. I had my colorist use the brand Wella , semi permanent. No harsh chemicals, I might have to get it done a little more frequently but I don't mind.

With my first, I waited until I was 12 weeks and then highlighted and dyed it. With my second, I dyed my hair from the box when I was about 8 weeks preggo and had no problems.

Re: Who dyes their hair

The first question I asked my MD was whether or not I could dye my hair and he said "no problem". I was very thankful that I can keep covering the grey.. LOL!!

I highlighted. Dying was one thing on my doctors list of like five things total that I should not do.

Re: Who dyes their hair

my doc told me i could dye when i asked at about 28 wks - he told me to make sure that i stayed in a well ventilated area - so no at home dye jobs for me..went to a salon n got it done, though it seems my grays are coming in quicker than before and the color was even at first, but i don't feel that it took the way it normally does...
