Re: Pre term contractions ?
i have been having pre-term contractions since 25 weeks. they were controlled with meds for a few weeks, but then started up again, so i've had to be on bedrest since 28 weeks. i am currently 35 weeks, still contracting, but will be taken off bed rest at 36 weeks. it's been a loooong road... but i've made it this far with only a little effacement and no dilation...
i would definitely call your doctor. they may want you to come in for a cervical check and for contraction monitoring. better to get it checked out and have it be nothing than to be in pre-term labor and have it progress to a point where they couldn't stop it.
good luck!!!!

Re: Pre term contractions ?
Ah nurses make the worst patients (well actually drs are probably worse), too stuborn to let anyone else take care of them. I'm an L&D nurse and started contracting at 23wks while I was at work and ignored it for hours. I honestly thought I had a UTI because it felt like my bladder was spasming because the cramping was so low. Finally as my shift was winding down I finally decided to get it checked out and sure enough I was contracting every 2-3minutes! So my advice to you is call your Dr now!!!!!

I would call your doctor now. The quicker he can assess the situation, the quicker he can try to remedy it before you wind up on bedrest.

Re: Pre term contractions ?
My advice is to always call. This past pregnancy was the only one where I didnt go into preterm labor. I had with all my other pregnancies...each time felt different...Once it was crampy, once more of an achiness in my legs, once I just had no clue what was going on...
