Would you be offended?
So, our weekly staff newsletter always lists upcoming birthdays. Mine is this Friday.
Well, one of the new staff members asked me if i were 'turning 30 again'
I'm only turning 25.
Now, I know many people at work think I'm older than I am since I'm a) married b) the other girls in their mid 20s go out like 3 times a week, I don't. c) because of the above, I tend to relate a bit more to the women who are in their 30s and 40s, as opposed to those my age.
So, I'm really not sure if I should be offended or not

Re: Would you be offended?
I wouldn't be that offended. I know what you mean about having friends and relating more to the people in their 30s and 40s. I'm 28 and many of my friends are in their 30s, 40s or even 50s. I chalk it up to being an only child and always being around adults.
I think it's ok.
Happy Early Birthday by the way!

Re: Would you be offended?
I wouldn't be offended. I wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't be offended.
I completely shocked a group of women I worked with earlier this year by telling them I was in my 20s, because they thought I was SO much more mature than 20 somethings they knew. I took it to mean that I'm very mature and professional. Because I can't bear the thought that I look 5+ years older than I am.

Re: Would you be offended?
Nah, I wouldn't be offended...its probably b/c you are mature for your age.
I get the opposite...I always get wow your married...your so young...I will be 25 next month.
Also my first day at school (new school) I went to introduce myself to the principal and he thought I was my friend/co workers daughter...who is 14!

Re: Would you be offended?
I wouldn't be offended. When I was in my early to mid-twenties, people I worked with always thought I was older than I was. I always related to women in their 30s and 40s at work, I got along with them better, so people just assumed I was older than I really was. Take it as a compliment to your maturity! That's what I always did.

Re: Would you be offended?
the only thing that would offend me would be having a birthday on Sept 14th instead of the 15th
don't feel bad- somet (stupid) trucker guy at taco bell a few weeks ago looked at me and said "ohhh they sent mom out to get dinner, huh?"
what does that even mean? now i dont look preggo anymore, i just look like i've delivered a herd of kids
assclown!

Yes I would be offended.....If this is a new staff member that dosen't know you well then they have no right to make such a rude comment. Now if you know them and have witty banter then I wouldn't be offended. I guess I look at as iaf you are new somewhere and you want to joke around that's fine but to ask if you're turning 30 again is taking it just a little to far.

Re: Would you be offended?
Nah, I wouldn't be offended. I'd just laugh in their face and say, "Pffft! That's hysterical because I'm only 25." Then I'd proceed to drop my young age every chance I got. Oh, wait, that's what I've been doing for like three years now. I don't let the women I work with forget how much younger I am than them It's become an inside joke now. And let's face it, eventually we'll be 30. Then what?

I would be offended. I am 30 though but I'd slap someone if they said I looked older.

Re: Would you be offended?
I would be offended with the "again" comment. do they think you are lying about your age? Its a stupid comment to begin with. and who wants to be told they look older when they're not

Re: Would you be offended?
I think if someone said that to me, I'd be like say "no" and then just walk away.
Some people try a little too hard to be funny.
