Re: Massapequa girls....I need the lowdown

I only know about pizza and food shopping from your list.

The King Kullen in Southgate is brand new and beautiful but SOOOO overpriced! If you know your prices, you can shop there for some things but otherwise, I go to Waldbaums on Sunrise Hwy. It's big and clean and have enough sales to keep me happy. There is an IGA in the Village which has great produce, sometimes I go there. If you want to travel a few miles away, there is a place in Copiague called Sal's Fruit Tree on Sunrise Hwy and their prices for fruits and veggies can't be beat. My Mother & I often do "produce runs" there, it's worth the trip, the prices are 1 /3 of the supermarkets sometimes.

You are going to hear that Gino's Pizza is really good but I am not getting the hype. We are fans of Phil's II Pizza on Sunrise (same shopping center as babies R Us) There is also a Phil's on Hicksville Road nr Jerusalem. They don't deliver though Chat Icon but worth the trip. Spinach Salad pizza is "to die for" (and I never use that phrase LOL)

Welcome to the area BTW Chat Icon Chat Icon

I like the bagels from the place in the southgate shopping center. I can't remember the name. There is also Margaret's Market Place in there. They sell meat, suasage and homemade pasta and sauces.
There is a huge stop and shop in amityville on merrick road as well. Not to far.
I have been getting my nails done at Sarahs across the street from John Burn's park and next to the ladie's workout express.

I think it's called the Buttered Bagel. They are the same owners as the Town Bagel in Wantagh, which have the best bagels Chat Icon

Re: Massapequa girls....I need the lowdown

-best place for pizza:
As said in my previous post, Phils II!!!

-to get your nails done?
I have to drive by to check the name of it....can't seem to remember.

-bagels?
We actually prefer Calvert Manor Bagels in Massapequa, in the shopping Center on Hicksville Road where Behrs is.

-foodshopping?
I prefer IGA in town for produce & Coldcuts (the coldcuts move fast there, so it is always fresh) and their meats are good too!

-italian meat place?
1st Place: A & S Pork Store on N. Broadway in N. Massapequa.

2nd place: Primavera in the Waldbaums shopping Center on Hicksville Road.

They are rennovating the Pathmark...supposed to be nice...there is the waldbaums on Sunrise, but they are overpriced in IMO...and there is IGA on Park Blvd
-italian meat place?
Tom and Sons, which is across from the train station...they are a tad pricey, but convienent b/c they are close by.

Food Shopping: I's take the ride a couple of minutes to the Stop and Shop in Amityville on Merrick Rd. It's fairly new and they have everything .

Bagels: I'd also drive into Amityville on Merrick Rd and go to the Better Bagel. They have such good food!

Chat Icon I used to work there when I was young, my first real job when I was 13 Chat Icon
Yes very good!! I live in nearby Amity Harbor and I drive around to find good food too!
I love Better Bagel in Amityville on Merrick Rd.
I love Phil's II, Chicken Parm, special slices YUMMY!!!(grew up in Seaford so I know Mass, Seaford very well)
I shop at Stop N Shop in Amityville on Merrick Rd. Great store!
Nails I like -Nails Relaxation so tranquil. It is on Merrick Rd in Amity harbor.
If Copiague is not too far try Mama's Pizzeria. SICILIAN pizza is the best but it is so busy, VERY GOOD!!
I am still looking for a great Chinese place so if you find it pass it on this way!!! I still drive to Bellmore to get my Chinese.
ALL AMERICAN is a MUST!! In case you have never been there. Merrick Rd/ RT 107.
Welcome to the Neighborhood (sorta)
Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Massapequa girls....I need the lowdown

Been here my whole life. Never pass up All American.
I shop at Pathmark, most reasonable in price.

Pizza-Marios on Broadway

Nails: For Permanent French Kay Nails on Broadway (A dump but she does them unbelievably)

Bagels: The shop by Behrs or the Buttered Bagel by HS.

Italian Meat I prefer Salpinos in Seaford, then A&S.

Re: Massapequa girls....I need the lowdown

Pizza-Carmela's on Merrick Rd (delicious) or Phils I (family favorite)

Grocery-King Kullen in Southgate (when they have sales they are terrific) otherwise Walbaums or Pathmark (for quick things)

Bagels-Town Bagel (hands down the best bagel place ever.....their chopped salads are AMAZING too!!)

Meats- Matthew's Meats or Sal's Meats (in the shopping center across the street from All American) and definitely Salpino's

Ditto this! Love Sal's!

Another vote for Carmela's too. They make great personal pizzas. Pizza Bistro in Southgate Shopping also has really good heros and sandwiches (not too big on their pizza). Bagel Cafe in same center has great sandwiches too.

I go to Ace nails near All American - they give great pedis and are very reasonable in price.

Shopping - we hit all three really. Stop & Shop, Waldbaum's and IGA are the staples - we go to KK if we absolutely must.

Cafe Butera also in Southgate is a favorite for dinner.

Fot bagels we go to either the Butered Bagel next to the HS or Seaford Bagels on Merrick Road (pink building)

Bagels - love Seaford Bagels on Merrick Road

Don't pass up All American

Marshall's next door is very very clean, owned by same family as All American and has yummy ice cream.

Italian store would have to be Primavera on Hicksville Rd or A&S on Broadway

Getty on Hicksville Rd always seems to have the cheapest gas

Carmela's is the best pizza!

Pomodorino's in Seaford on Merrick Rd is fabulous Italian

Welcome to Massapequa!!

-best place for pizza?

We love Marsala's in the shopping center on the corner of Hicksville Road and Merrick Road

-to get your nails done?

3 places:

Ace Nails on Merrick Road and West End Avenue (same side as All-American but across the street - next to Gigi's pizza)

East Meadow (or Fresh Meadow)Chat Icon on Merrick Road in Seaford

Forget the name but the place on Seaman's Neck Road and Sunrise Highway

-bagels?

- The bagel place right next to the high school on Merrick Road - Town Bagels

-foodshopping?

Stop & Shop in Amityville
King Kullen in Southgate
Waldbaums on Sunrise Highway

-italian meat place?
Well for a butcher, I use Sal's on Merrick Road and Hicksville Road

For Italian, I recommend Salpino's on Merrick Road in Wantagh (or Seaford??) or Margaret's Pasta for great Italian stuff in the Southgate shopping center

I also make frequent trips to Gemelli's in Babylon.
