DVR Recording
I understand the basics of it, but can you record something for 3 days in advance and record it weekly. If I wanted to record a show that is on Thurs at 8. Or do I have to wait until Thurs at 8. TIA

You can set it up once to tape one show for the whole season.
It will give you the options when you set up the recording.

Yeah you can do it for that specific channel at that specific time on that specific day or you can have it look for all new episodes of said show.
