ANTS!
huge black disgusting ants!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found 2 in my kitchen this morning! when I squashed one of them, it actually left blood behind on the counter that's how big it was. I sprayed a little bit of RAID ant killer behind the counter (there is a small space between the counter and the wall), that stuff will kill any bug, but it smells SO bad
anyone have any other remedies?

move to a colder climate
we have a spider problem. we desperately need new windows (which we are getting ASAP!), so thats how they are coming in.
and now the slugs have appeared on the walkway.

funny side story about ants... we went to look at one house.. the family was home... 2 parents and little girl... the little girl was in her room... she is VERY chatting..s tarts saying stuff about her princess room etc.. then goes off for 2 min about the ANTS in the bathroom.. 'mommy can't get rid of the ants, we dont know whwat to do ,there all over the bathroom , mommy and daddy tried everything' etc etc... what a cute informative little girl.. every house you look at should have a chatty child...hahaha needless to say we bought a diff house hahaha

10 to 1, the next time they had people showing the house, they prob made sure she wasn't there, or kept her occupied.

Re: ANTS!
we killed the live ones we saw with windex and placed little piles of cornmeal in the corners where we thought they were getting in from. I had heard that they take the cornmeal back to their colony and it kills them there...I don't know if it was the cornmeal or just good luck but we haven't had an ant since

Re: ANTS!
I know what you mean! I find the HUGE ones in my bedroom on the floor!! Our bedroom is the last room on the side of the house so DH is going to spray the outside of the house near the foundation. I think its good that you sprayed inside the house, but you should also spray outside along the perimeter of the house.

Re: ANTS!
We too have been getting a lot of ants in our kitchen this last week.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of them without spraying?

Re: ANTS!
We've had problems in past years, but this year we put out a couple of Terro traps and they worked sooooo much better than the raid traps. After those were put out we didn't see any.

Re: ANTS!
big black ants CAN be a harmless nuissance, but they could also be a sign of a larger more concerning problem.... CARPENTER ANTS
call in the pro's... you don't want your structural beams munched away by those guys.... hopefully, they're the harmless kind of ant.......

Re: ANTS!
We put out the combat traps inside all around the house and traps outside of the perimiter of the house. I saw a few ants inside the house before I put the traps out but now I have never seen an ant since.

I don't even know if it kills them actually it just sort of paralyzes them and then you just wipe them right up. The cornmeal was what I used to prevent them from coming back in the future, so far so good.
