How many of you...?
I am new to this board, I have so many questions!!
*Took prenatal vitamins before you became pg?
I had a visit w/my gyno. yesterday and she prescribed them b/c I told her we are ttc.
TIA-you guys are so helpful!!

It's a good idea to start prenatals as soon as you are ready to TTC. Some doctors provide a prescription and others will suggest over the counter type.

I am finishing up my pills this Saturday...I am going to start the prenatals the following day. That is what my Dr. told me to do.

my doctor told just to take folic acid. i did not get prenatals until my first pregnancy appointment.

my doctor just told me to take over the counter prenatals until I got my BFP. I bought the target brand and I still take them even though I am pregnant. They agree with my stomach the most.

My doc also prescribed prenatals to me when I told her we were TTC.

When I went to the doctor and told him DH and I were going to start TTC, he said just to take regular multivitamin that has at least 400mg of Folic Acid. He said I should start taking prenatals after I find out I am preggers.

The best person to ask is your doctor. No two women are alike. Most doctors have women just taking a certain amount of folic acid and a multi and that is enough for them. For me, I needed much more than 400mcg (not mg). I needed 1000mcg (1mg) of folic acid and I get that in my specific prenatal. I have other health needs requiring a certain intake of specific vitamins and those too are covered by my prenatal.
Some doctors think that ANY woman of childbearing years should be on extra folic acid in the event that she gets PG when it wasn't planned.
