Dear DH
Not EVERYTHING has to be DIY.
We were going to get a plumber to replace our baseboard heaters. But his dad and brother are insisting on coming down here to do it. None of them are plumbers or have any kind of real plumbing experience. I have this huge fear of the whole lower level flooding and it taking DAYS to complete.

Re: Dear DH
i hope it works out, but does he realize that it will just wind up costing more to fix whatever they try to do themselves?

Re: Dear DH
I have done almost anything and everything in our house. Ran wiring, installed a whole-house water softener, tiling, plumbing, sheetrocking, etc, etc. However, with that said, I still know when to call in someone else. Usually it's for a project that I know I can do, but it would take way too long. Plus, I'm starting to realize that time with my kids is soooo much more valuable than the money I might have saved by doing a big project by myself.

Re: Dear DH
This is my DH, too. He insists on doing everything. I hear you, you know it's a good thing, but sometimes it's so annoying!

Re: Dear DH
I have the opposite. My DH thinks we're going to hire everything out, and I think we'll attempt DIY projects but only after gaining as much knowledge as possible.
The only thing I would never want to touch is electic and plumbing.
But my BIL thinks that electric is easy and has done all his own electric projects in his house.
I said good. Then you can come over and do mine too. ;)

Re: Dear DH
aaawww, Lauren!!!!!! Let's hope they do it correctly, and if they don't (which I'm sure won't happen), you can rub it in DH's face that a professional should have done the job and call one yourself to come in and correct the situation.

Re: Dear DH
Well, we called a plumber and if he can do it on Thurs. or Fri. we will go with the plumber. If he can't do it before the weekend, then its going to be DIY.
