Temping
Is there such a thing as a "normal" pattern? Meaning, should your daily temp be the same every day until you surge, get AF, etc?
If you're taking your temp within a half hour (meaning 7:20 one day, 6:50 another) should there be a big difference? Does one glass of beer affect the temp the same way a few glasses would?

Re: Temping
There is a typical pattern of temps during the cycle. Usually women experience a noticeable rise in temps after ovulation. You should take your temp within an hour of a set time each day. The things that can cause unreliable temps are disturbed sleep (e.g., getting up at night to use the bathroom), not getting at least 3 straight hours of sleep, alcohol, illness, etc.

Re: Temping
So it's OK to see my temps go from 97.8 (7:20a Tues) to 97.6 (6:50a Weds) to 97.2 (7:20a Thurs)? Totally undisturbed sleep...which is weird - I usually get up to pee...and just a glass of beer last night and two glasses of beer Mon night.
I am on CD5...

Re: Temping
Your temp usually wouldn't be exactly the same everyday - rather, you'll begin to see a pattern within a certain range. Lower from AF through O, then higher after O. Temping later than usual can make a temp higher - a half-hour difference I don't think is that much. Personally, 1 drink doesn't make a difference in my temp, several of them do! I think that also depends on when I drink - a beer with dinner vs. going out and drinking late at night, you know?

Re: Temping
Ok, good. Thank you!
I tried temping a year ago...but I gave up b/c I never did it at the same time so my numbers were all out of whack.
Does anyone temp at night too? I was curious b/c I'm charting at Fertility Friend and they ask if the time was am or pm...for kicks I do it at both times Temps are the same...
