ordering furniture from NC...
We are looking into gettting a twin bed for Ethan and I have always ordered from Katz & Sons (in manhattan on the LES) but decided to check with Furnitureland south down in NC after many people on here recommended them.
Although they were slightly cheaper than Katz after delivery charges we were only saving maybe $40 total on the bed. Totally not worth it IMO.
I know that a lot of people order furniture from NC to save $ but the delivery charges are very high, so how exactly are you saving money?
I'm just wondering b/c we may look into getting a new dining room set next year and just want to know how we can save... We are so NOT renting a Uhual and driving to NC
Thanks!

Re: ordering furniture from NC...
I just replyed to your FM, but for us it was worth it because we were ordering a whole set of furniture, not just one piece -- so $50 - $100 savings per piece and then lower combined shipping ended up saving us well over $500. That being said, we never bothered to go back to Raymour and Flanigan and try to negotiate or wait for sales or open a charge account etc. to lower the price. I hate haggling, just give me the bottom line the first time.

Re: ordering furniture from NC...
For us it was worth it because we were ordering our entire dining room set. We ordered a table (with 2 leaves), 4 side chairs, 2 arm chairs and a china cabinet and base.
So like the previos post stated when you are ordering an entire set it is worth it. For us the difference between many furniture stores on Long Island and the one we got it from in NC was $1500. even considering the $650 delivery fee from NC the place in NC still came in $1500 less than the places in NY. Also, from NC you do not have to pay tax which makes a big difference. So between the lack of tax and price per piece being lower it was worth it for us.
The service was great! The timeframe was exactly as quoted. We are quite pleased with our experience.
