Sicko
I just got home from seeing this... Not that the ideas expressed in this movie were incredibly foreign to me, but I found it so emotional, disturbing and shocking.
I cannot believe the crap we put up with in this country-- all for the greed of others. Absolutely disgusting.
ETA from my last post... we all really need to do what we can to make a difference. if the people don't speak up-- we'll never get what we need.
I urge people to go to Michael Moore's site and sign the petitions and look and see what else we can do as individuals, in order to create a collective change.
What can I do?

Re: Sicko
I can't wait to see it.
I think it's a shame we can't make these types of movies mandatory viewing. Such apathy here.

Re: Sicko
I totally agree... and you just cannot dispute what he puts out there-- these are simple facts-- realisms of our lives.
I mean, after seeing that movie-- I want to go find a pair of bell bottoms, put a flower in my hair and start protesting my arse off.. I can't believe the bill of goods we get sold-- for profit only.

Re: Sicko
I also agree. The state of healthcare in this country is appalling. Unfortunately, you have solid middle class senior citizens, who have worked their entire lives, choosing between medication and food. Civilizied people should not live this way. The pharmaceutical and insurance companies are in bed with congress and run this country. I work in this filed, and it just makes me so angry. I happen to have great health insurance, but most people fail to understand that as you age, and really need it, you just can't count on it. So many retirees of big companies, just don't have the coverage they thought they did, and this situation is worsening by the minute.

Re: Sicko
I haven't seen it, but healthcare is a HUGE sore spot for me. I happen to get it free from work, but my dad has to pay $12K a year. It's such a shame that hard working middle class citizens can't afford healthcare.
Did anyone ever hear of the lawsuits against hospitals for overcharging the uninsured. Basically, they charge the uninsured MORE than they charge the insurance company. So, as we all know, ins companies don't pay the full amount USUALLY anyway, so the uninsured are paying over 50% more than the insurance companies are paying. It really is so sad.

Re: Sicko
I totally agree with you. I also saw the film. I thought it was great and made me outraged. My parents and several siblings are in the health care field and have to deal with these for-profit health insurance companies. They see it all the time, these companies are trying to make a buck at the expense of our health. They basically bribe our elected officials. And we stand for it! It was so interesting how in France, they protest and stand up to the government. Here we seem to have grown afraid of the government...
I signed the Michael Moore's petition and sent a letter to Newsday.
