NST-what happens
What happens during the non Stress Test? I have to have one in the morning since my hemoglobin is really low (7. something) and my pulse has been racing.

Re: NST-what happens
They usually strap two straps around your belly. One measures contractions and the other does the heartbeat. Then they ask you to press a button every time you feel the baby move. My first time I didn't feel the baby at all. The next time he wouldn't stop moving.

Re: NST-what happens
In addition to the straps, they can also blast what is like an airhorn at your belly to wake the baby up and check out its responsveness to outside stimuli. I had this done last Tuesday.

Re: NST-what happens
Its you indicating when you feel the baby move and they tape the heartrate to see how it reacts to the movement.
IF the baby is sleeping, they will make you chew gum, put ice on your belly...the airhorn like above, drink PJ etc, to wake the baby up.
