How long do new rugs shed for?

we bought one from pottery barn over 6 months ago and it is still shedding all over the place. I can't sit or kneel on my rug with dark clothes on or I end up looking like a lint trap.

I know rugs sometimes shed for the first few vaccuumings, but this is getting ridiculous!

Is this normal? If not, where can I find a rug that won't shed like this? I'm sick of the lint bunnies everywhere.

My wool rug still sheds and I have had it for months now. Some just do. It depends on the material of the rug.

I bought a wool rug for my living room about 3 months ago and it still sheds. Apparently its normal!! My vacuum doesn't think so, neither does my son who is often covered in that crap...but I can just lint roll him and he is fine!
