Re: How do I break it to her???
IF your paying for plane fare, then I would use that money to take her somewhere else for sure. I wouldnt just not go somewhere. But I guess you cant control your friend not being there...
Doe syour sister have enough money to pay for a hotel for you all? Maybe you can cut the trip in half or less and just stay a little bit.
I would tell her ASAP and leave the details to her, but offer to at least do something ..

Re: How do I break it to her???
Honestly, I would still go on the trip. But I would ask my sister if she still wants to go to London (given the new situation) or if she would prefer to go someplace else comparable.
I just feel like this trip was planned in part for your sister turning 30 (even though it was also because your BF lived there) and I don't think it's right to cancel the trip. However, I understand the money issue and would see if you could book something else that would be more reasonable. But I would still make it a "big" trip. Maybe you can fly to an island for a few days?

I volunteer Racheeee or USUK to put you up for your stay
in all seriousness, the sooner you tell her, the better!
I still have my parents here in week 3 of their summer visit and it hasn't stopped raining ONCE. Rain rain rain. And here is a headline for ya...Rain Hit Britain expects more rain! Lucky us!
