Lets talk ...
car insurance.
Who do you go to?
What to you pay per year? (share if you want)
I am in the market for a better car insurance. Right now we have Geico and pay $2400 per year. One newer car that we are still making payments on and one older car.(paid for but 11 years old) Is this ridiculous or pretty much the standard for the area?
Also please share your area.
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Lets talk ...
Geico - $1891.20 per year ($945.60 for each 6 month policy)
We have a 2007 Honda CR-V (still making payments) and a 2002 Honda Civic with 108,000 that we own outright.
They just lowered our premium over $300 a year. I don't know WHY - either me turning 26, an accident may have come off, or perhaps because we paid off one of the cars?

Re: Lets talk ...
I pay $1280 for the year for a Jeep Grand Cherokee, full coverage. This also includes my renters insurance, jewelry policy and life insurance. I think you're getting robbed.

Do you carry collision on the older car? That could account for part of the reason your premium is high. (It does seem him to me)
other contributing factors -- If you gave them your SS number on the application, they could be using your credit score as a factor; your age, if you are 25 or younger; type of vehicles you own and their value; number of accidents in the past 5 years; number of moving violations in the past 5 years, etc.

Re: Lets talk ...
how old are you???
that sounds really high to me, but if it were a few years ago, it was about average.
when DH and i got married, i had geico and he had a different insurance- his quoted us over $800 less than Geico, so i switched, now were below $1200 for 2 cars, full coverage (both cars are paid off).

Re: Lets talk ...
I just looked mine up because if you are getting robbed I am getting murdered.
I pay $3200 a year but we live in queens we have full coverage on an 04 SUV and an 07 car. (one finance one lease) We have full glass coverage (luckily I opted in the day before my windshield cracked) and we have mechanical breakdown coverage. And we have only a $500 deductible
I have GEICO also, but we have been VERY happy with them. I have NO complaints about their service

wow. Are you sure this is for the year? what is your deductible? whats your limit? is it more or less than 100/300K? what county?
sorry for the 20 questions but that is only a little more than my DH's 6 month premium. He is 31 with a 2004 Element
