central ac
we have a hot air heating system and was wondering if central air would work through it because the vents are on the floor..any advice?

are your vents on the floor? is it working properly..someone told me that it would be a constant battle getting the whole room cool and not just your feet since hot air rises..

Ours are on the floor and while not ideal, we have no problem keeping the rooms/house cool.

We have hot air with vents on the floor. We just had CAC installed and decided against using it with the existing heating system. We went back and forth with the decision because the price was quite a bit more to have new ductwork put in. I'm so glad now we spent the extra money because it works great and the whole house is evenly cool.

i don't see why it wouldn't work. with our CAC on the lower level of our house the vents are in the ceiling and on the upper levels the vents are near the floor.

My FIL just installed central AC in our house. We also have forced hot air heat but he said it would be better if we added the ductwork and have the ac come from the ceiling. My house gets COLD!!!

We had CAC installed last year and we used the same ducts that we already had for our forced air heating. The vents are not on the floor, but they are low on the wall, about 6-12 inches up from the floor. We have absolutely no problems with cooling the house (we got a new, more efficient furnace to run the AC off of). I am so glad we did it this way.

Yes all our vents are on the floor.. Your heating vents shouldnt be up on the wall cause heat rises and as for the air its perfect the house is always cool

We have forced heat and central air through the same unit as well.
ets: that all our vents are up in the wall and or in the ceiling. Also finding that the units are not lasting more than 6-7years due to them constantly being on from heat to air and vise versa.
