I would take less land to have less noise. And then you have to think if you have kids having a busy road so close, the dangers.

Better location over house. ALthough if the .75 yard had alot of trees at the back and a fence, then I would consider it. You need something to block out the road noise.

less land, away from a busy street. I think it'll help with the resale value of your house.
I looked at a house that was bigger than the one I bought, in just about equally good condition. The plot was probably about the same. The bigger house was only one house away from a two lane street. It ended up sitting on the market for months. I'd be willing to bet the location had something to do with it, but JMO.
