shopping for desks (in person) recs pls

i found a desk i reallly like in home decoraters, but dh and i want to check out some stores first. we'd prefer to see something in person, so we're gonna give it a shot. we aren't looking to spend an arm and a leg, but want something decent. the one we liked in home decoraters is around 550. where would you recommend to go shopping, physically (not online)? thanks!

We got ours on Route 110 (farmingdale). Down past the mini golf course...called Office furniture direct. They had a NICE selection. You have to put them together yourself (or hire someone, doesnt come with the cost of the armoire) but they are cheap and sturdy.

Most of them are by Sauder (office desk/hutches). Our closes up and looks like an armoir. This is it..http://www.sauder.com/popup/viewmore_product.asp?p=17&o=2&s=0

It has lasted us over 5 years so far and DH/dad put it together. I sit at it everyday, right now even,for hours and hours and it fits so much stuff and looks decent when closed. You can hide all your junk!

It wasnt easy to put together (or carry up our stairs, VERY heavy) but it was worth it. It has so many features, more than any other desk I saw. I think we paid around 500 for it?

here are some products they may carry. They carried ALOT of these type of desks. Never saw these anywhere but there and we looked and looked!

I saw a really nice desk in Bombay and compant. I don't recall the price but think it was in your range.

We got our desk set from Desko on Rt 110 ts by Kathy Ireland and I love it! (very reasonable also)
