HR Peeps
Asking for a friend here-- I have heard different things...
But, when is it best to give notice?
On a Friday?
On a Monday?
I have heard reccos from both schools of thought.

Not in HR, nor have I ever been let go, but I think I would have preferred a Friday. That way I could complain to my friends and family over the weekend and then start out early in the week looking for something new.
ETA: Sorry, I thought you were asking when to fire someone.
I preferred to give notice on Friday, so that it wasn't weird all week.

I say Monday...don't give them the weekend to stew over it. Tell them on Monday, let everyone deal with it right away.

I'm in HR and I don't think there is a preference as to what day a person should give notice. I think it's whatever they feel comfortable with.
Good luck to them on whatever day they choose!

It doesn't matter. Doing it on Monday makes it a neat two weeks ending on a Friday.

I agree, also it usually works well for the payroll cycle.... so you have a clean 1 or 2 week check......Also, in my experiences Monday's are better for people to digest any type of bad news.... no brewing/stewing over the weekend.... Good Luck!!!
