Side Effects of a D &C

After the procedure is it normal for your stomach to swell. I feel as though I have ALOT of air trapped in my stomach. Sometimes to the point that it is VERY uncomfortable and I either need to burp or pass gas.

I didn't experience this...I just had cramping and bleeding a week later. I would call your dr just to check. Good luck and hope you are doing well....

on the pregnancy board one of the ladies said that they pump O2 and other gasses into your uterus to expand it. I thought something was up becuase I look like I am 6 months preggers.

I had 4 procedures at the same time, one of them was a D&C. The next day, i got on the scale and I gained 7 pounds. This NEVER EVER EVER happens. It is physically impossible for me to gain 7 pounds in one day because I had gastric bypass. My face was puffy too. The weight gain and bloat was from the gas they pumped me with. Rest assured, it was gone less than two days later. I was also very um flatulent afterwards.

thanks Goldie, I was thinking the same thing. My weight gain was like 5lbs. This is very reassuring I thought that i was eating too much.

My pleasure. I was in a state of panic. I mean I anticipate weight gain during pregnancy and that will be fine, but knowing that I wasn't eating anything the day before and then seeing a weight gain was terrifying. Hope you are feeling well now!

yes. I think I mentioned this in your post before you went. this is what set me off the emotional wagon... They fill you up with gas to expand you while doing the procedure (without getting into graphics). It took a week or so to go down.
