HR People and Insurance People-Long

I have posted about my horrible old job before. They ended up firing me while I was using my accurred sick and vacation time as the start of my maternity leave. I have no legal recourse regarding the maternity leave as I was not eligible for FMLA as there are only six employees and I wasn't on disability yet.

My boss told me that I would get two weeks severence pay and that I would receieve it on April 30th, 2007, after that I could file for unemployment, and as of April 30th my health insurance would be terminated. I have this all saved in my email.

My son was born on April 26th (a week early due to high blood pressure caused by stress according to my dr).

Yesterday I got a bill in the mail for my doctor's portion of my delivery (over $4k ) and the statement said it was denied because I was not an active member at that time! Luckily, I also am covered under DH's insurance and my dr takes it, BUT I'd like to try to fight this since I was supposed to still be covered and they lied and cancelled me.

What do I do?

Send your employer a copy of the bill & a copy of the email indicating you are insured. Tell them to take care of it otherwise you will be forced to seek legal action.
