Re: What is the worst surgery you have had?
Foot surgery but it was elective so I can't complain about it.

I swear, when I was told everything they were going to do, how I would "feel " after it (pain wise), and what my recovery would look like I thought of you. I said to myself "If Deb can go through everything that she has been through, lived through it, is thriving and well, and can do this".
You are an inspiration to me and a lot of the other folks on here.
Thank you very much for posting this. I was feeling a bit down about friends today and this really picked me up! I realllllllly appreciate you saying it. This IS scary and you CAN do it. Trust in your surgical team and rely on your family. Do you have a good support system set up for the days when you first get released?

Re: What is the worst surgery you have had?
I've only ever had my wisdom teeth removed. While it was painful, listening to other people's stories makes me really realize that good health should not be taken for granted.
Good luck on your surgery, Dina.

I am going in for open heart surgery in two weeks. I can imagine that being cut open like a lobster cannot be fun at all. Plus, I was told I will be intubated for 2-3 days after my surgery.
I am also petrified of the pain. I hope they give me drugs, tons of drugs so I don't even know what planet I will be on.
I am saying such prayers for you! My Dad had numerous heart surgeries. I pray you heal as fast and painless as possible.

Re: What is the worst surgery you have had?
getting a deep birthmark removed from my right leg. they dug down two or three inches and the scar is at least 6 inches long. was awake with local and had about 50 stitches. a bit of pain during the surgery, but the stitches removal was the worst.

Re: What is the worst surgery you have had?
I was going to say I never had a surgery, but I had a c/s with my first child. I don't think it was bad at all.
I had kidney troubles last year and had to have a stent put in. I was out for that procedure and have no scars or anything (they went in through my bladder ).
However.... getting the stent out, I was in the doctor office, fully awake and well aware of what they were doing. They put this thing up through my bladder to grab the end of the stent and pull it out. Yep, through my pee pee. I cringe just thinking about it again.

The only surgery I ever had was having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once.

Re: What is the worst surgery you have had?
Repair of a perforated eardrum. It wound up taking longer than expected, and I was dizzy for weeks afterwards. Also had to wrap my ear in all kinds of stuff when I showered to keep all water out for months after. Not fun.
I also had an appendectomy, but that wasn't so bad in comparison. In a couple weeks, I was pretty much back to normal.

I had back surgery and have 2 metal rods in my back. That was def the worse.
I also had a c-section and a nose job but both of them were not bad at all for me.

Deb, I meant EVERY word.
I do have family coming in from all over to help out for about 7 weeks after my surgery with Gracie, our doggie and me. I trust in my team and the outpouring of friends and family has been overwhelming in a very good way. It looks like I will be well taken care of after I get home.
The problem is that I have to "allow" people to help me. I ma very independent and I am the first to help someone else, but accepting help is going to be a tough pill for me to swallow.
