Missing a surge

What are the chances of this happening? How long does a surge usually last?

For the past 4 months, I've always gotten a surge anywhere from CD 14 - 17. I am now on CD 21 and haven't gotten a surge yet. Could I have missed it? I test everyday since CD 12 at 5pm.

If you are pretty consistent, as you seem to be, you may have missed it. I honestly don't know what the odds are of missing it, but I do believe it is possible.

The other possibility is that your cycle is just off this month and is longer.

Sorry I can't be of more precise help.

My cycles vary so it would be possible for me to get it a week later than prior months..... I think that you should test for a few more days. If you dont see a surge just continue BD'ing every other day.......

It's just so weird bc over the past year, I've never had a cycle more than 34 days and that was only 1 time (the month we moved into our house). Generally, my cycles are 30-31 days. At this rate, even if I get a surge today, I would have a 36 day cycle. SO weird.Chat Icon

It is very weird - could anything else be throwing it off? stress? weight loss?

I can't think of anything that could throw it off. The only thing is that I started going back to the gym again after a few weeks off, but I can't imagine that would delay my ovulation...I've worked out regularly for years.

My LP is 14 days.

Re: Missing a surge

This happened to me this month!!! Keep testing!! I am on cycle day 24 and I am finally getting a darker second line, although my cbefm is still saying low, I also look at the sticks. For the last 8 months my surge is usually between CD 11-14, we have been BDing everyother day since day 9 just incase.

You could have missed it. I usually ovulate between CD 15-17 but this month it happened on CD12. Keep testing though, you could just get it really late this month.

Re: Missing a surge

Try testing twice-once around 2PM and again around 10 PM
