Jury duty in Riverhead - Traffic?
I commute to the city via LIRR so I really don't know how LI traffic is.
I live in Lindenhurst and have to report to jury duty in Riverhead tomorrow at 10:30. It's 45 miles away and according to google map directions it will take about a hour to get there.
Realistically how long should I allow for traffic eastbound on Sunrise highway?

It shouldn't be too bad leaving at 9:30...I'd probably allow 15 mins extra--when I had jury duty the parking lot there filled up very quickly! Not sure where the overflow parking is.

I usually take the Expressway and there is not much traffic at all, especially past about exit 60 or so. I've only taken Sunrise a handful of times and I don't really remember. Riverhead is a pretty east commute despite the number of miles. Parking at the courthouse is another story but only sometimes.

Traffic East in the morning is a breeze, at least after Sayville that is. I'm not sure about west of there. I would still give yourself 15 minutes more to deal with Riverhead itself.

Thanks! I think I leave leave around 9 or 915 to make sure I can get parking. That hadn't even occurred to me. I'm pregnant and I'm sure I'll need to find a bathroom promptly when I get there and won't want to fight to find parking.

I don't mean to freak you out but there could be a long line to go through the metal detectors at the court building. But the guards might let you skip ahead.

Re: Jury duty in Riverhead - Traffic?
Last time I had jury duty in Riverhead I had to come from West Babylon. I left at 9:30 and got there with time to spare, which included me getting a little lost! You'll be fine leaving at 9:15.
