If BF'ing, is a nursing bra necessary?

I havent bought anything for nursing.
Are these items really necessary?
Like the bra or tops?

It's just easier, otherwise you will have to lift your bra or put your boob over the top to feed the baby.

I have not bought yet either, but I was told not to measure until after I leave the hospital. I am not sure how great this advice is, b/c then DH will have to buy them (eek) but the reason I was told is b/c you can grow in the early stages of BF.

I am going to ask my Dr about this at our next visit, so I'll let you know what she says.

I used one in the beginning because it was way more convenient. Once DD started nursing less, I just wore normal bras and oulled the top down to nurse.

Not necessary but is easier than pulling up your bra or taking it off. I just unclipped the top, pulled down the flap and then clipped when I was done.

Of course, you don't have to buy one, but they make your life SOO much easier!

Just to give you an idea for a size: I am a large B-small C normally and was a DD when my milk came in and for the next 6 moths or so. THen I was able to switch to a D.

i was told that too, about waiting. your breasts will change a lot once the milk comes in.

i had posted a while ago about a store in nyc, that is suppose to be great, that i'm going to check out, called the upper breast side. they specialize in nursing bras.

i plan on going there before i have the babies and see what they recommend.

Target sells cheap nursing tanks, that's what I used in the hospital. I didn't buy bras until a few weeks after DS's birth. I pump 3 times a day at work, so I wear a nursing bra everyday. I also find that nursing tops are essential if you are nursing in public -- they make it very discreet.

I didn't buy real nursing bras until after I grew.

I am going to buy one bra before I have the baby because we were watching these videos in lamaze and all the women had their boobs hanging out during delivery - then they brought the baby to the mom. I told DH he MUST keep my covered at all times. And so now I am determined to wear a nursing bra during delivery. Then I'll see what I do about getting more afterwards.

I bought 2 because they were the most comfortable new bras I could find in my "new size" and as a bonus DH finds them sexy.

I should invest in one I guess...like the bra/tank one.
I just didnt want to get all crazy getting a few and then the bf'ing part dosent work for us.
Also, yea..uh my bb's didnt get too large from this pregnancy but milk coming in will most likely change that and Im a small c now.

Im also one who DOES not wanted to be flashing my bb's to everyone!!!

This was one of the bras I bought and the one I got the most use out of: the sleep bra. You don't want to go to bed without some kind of support and you don't want to wear a full bra so this was great.

I got 2 of them before having DD. I went to Mimi Maternity and they suggested the size. She told me to buy one cup bigger than I was pg (I went when I was like 36-38 weeks). I used to be a B pre-preggo and I bought an E. I was glad I had them. I found it easier to nurse wearing them. I also have used LOTS of the tanks with the shelf bra(regular-not nursing.) I love sleeping in those and it's easy to nurse in them.

i have three nusring bras cause they are so comftable.

and i have two nusring tanks.

i want to buy more. i keep on checking the clearance rack for them on sale.

I bought some and they were ok, but I ended up just wearing my own bras and they were fine! I would get some BF tanks, great for the summer!

I thought they were MUCh easier than a regular bra. I bought mine before I had DS and I was shocked when they told me what size to get- 34 E I started out a 34 B
