Is anyone else tired of the unsolicated advice/comments/complaints?
Maybe its just me, but I am reaching the point of violence when people offer advice or opinions that I didn't ask them for. Let's share some of our stories!!!! Vent ladies!!!
At my shower one of my friends said to me "I like the name Tyler, but I really have no use for Craig." First of all, we like both names and second Craig is in honor of my little brother who is no longer with us. If you want to name a kid have one for yourself!!!!
My MIL keeps asking me why I haven't been enjoying my pregnancy. Finally, I told her that maybe if I tried her method of smoking pot the whole time she was preggo I wouldn't find it so uncomfortable either!!!

That's exactly the reason we stopped bringing up names to ppl! We weren't dead set on a name, but had a few lined up and the few ppl we told in the beginning were so bold to make "changes" to our ideas. Finally, someone who had gone through this before and saw/heard what was happening gave us the advice that leaving it as surprise is the way to go if you want to avoid the comments.....and that's exactly what we've decided! But now we're just dealing with the annoying ppl who don't understand why it's a surprise and CANNOT stop harassing us about it everytime they see us.
I guess the moral of the story is-- there is no avoiding rude ppl and you just have to learn to be laid back about it!

Me!! One woman at work asked if I was going to breastfeed and when I said I wasn't sure - she insisted that I do. INSISTED to the point she was harassing me. And she's never breastfed in her life! I also don't like the reaction I get when I tell people I'm going to try to deliver without any pain meds...they look at me like I'm insane becasue I don't want a needle in my spine if I don't need it!

It totally depends on who the advice is from. I have some friends who are great- and I welcome their advice and comments- however- I have a few friends who are BTDT moms- who make all these comments and give me unsolicited advice with such a condescending tone that it makes me want to tell them to take their advice/comments and shove it!

Re: Is anyone else tired of the unsolicated advice/comments/complaints?
I usually put my fake smile on and say "well, I guess everyone is different" or " I guess every pregnancy is different" or something of that nature. I guess from some people's face it's obvious I just don't care when I say that.
I just don't care about comments anymore. My choices are mine and DH. This pregnancy is mine, they know nothing about my medical history or went to a sono with me. They did not see the scale at the Dr. ... so really they run their mouth about something they know nothing about. Which is exactly what I tell them when they insist.
Best comments so far..... Oh delivery does not hurt! I was such a good girl and waiting until I was 10 cm dilated to go the hospital. No epidural.... it went like a breath in 20 minutes.....
Whatever!!!!! I guess that woman was not in my sister's shoes with 36 hours labor after breaking her water.

Re: Is anyone else tired of the unsolicated advice/comments/complaints?
I havent shared names, we ourselves arent finding out gender, so that takes away some uncolicited advice - but yes, I get comments and advice on labor, child rearing, everything - I tell everyone thank you, but I have my own way of doing things....
