Any co-op owners in Queens?

We're starting to look around as we have decided on a co-op for our first real estate investment.

Please post your raves and rants and also if your building allows pets which is a big concern for us.

Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: Any co-op owners in Queens?

I rent in a co-op building in Bayside

you can have cats
IMO it's one of the more expensive ones- 1 bedrooms start around $375K

it has all the extras- Gym, Pool, Basketball Courts, Waterview, Doorman - deli, nail salon, dry cleaner

FM me for the name

I find the rules to be alittle much for my liking

I'm closing on my co-op in Oakland Gardens next week.

They allow dogs and they are pretty lenient with everything; we didn't have any problems with anything we wanted to do.

FM for more details/questions Chat Icon

Re: Any co-op owners in Queens?

I live in a co-op in Forest Hills. Overall, we are happy with our investment. We live in a full service building with doorman, laundry, small park, pool, and an awesome view of the Manhattan skyline Chat Icon We like the neighborhood and have not had any problems so far. You do have to get used to the co-op "rules," but none of them are outrageous.

As for pets, there are dogs in my building but I think the rule is that if you bought your co-op after a certain year you can't have pets. I am not sure if there any exceptions to that rule.

Please FM if you want specific information about my co-op or have any other questions on the neighborhood!

Re: Any co-op owners in Queens?

We also live in Forest Hills. We love it but are moving to a house in NJ due to a job change.

As for the building it is great. We are in a 24 hr doorman, pet friendly building, with parking, that is 2 blocks from the express subway....its GREAT!!

The apartment we are currently in is up for sale. If you are intersted feel free to IM me.

My SIL owns a coop in Little Neck. She is not happy there. Her board is really strict.

Re: Any co-op owners in Queens?

My husband and I just signed a contract for a place on the border of Nassau and Queens, a short walk to the LIRR. They are pet friendly. We also wanted a pet friendly building and found that to be a little difficult in Forest Hills, which was the other community we loved. They have pet friendly buildings there but they are not as common, a realtor mentioned that co-op boards are accepting pets less and less...Chat Icon

Re: Any co-op owners in Queens?

Thank you all so much for answering my post. I FMed a few of you. For us the co-op rules are not a problem as long as pets are allowed. Everything else we have no problem with. Our #1 location right now is Forest Hills and Kew Gardens, close to transportation, shopping, restaurants, etc. We have a baby on the way so comfort and convenience is our #1 priority right now.

Once again thanks!
